MLITSD News and Events   Construction Health and Safety Program Report   The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) puts together a report for the Provincial Labor Management Health and Safety Committee each month with an overview of events, court bulletins, and statistics. This report is generally available the first week of the month and is posted on the IHSA website.   Access report      
2024-2025 Compliance Campaign   From April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, MLITSD inspectors will be focusing on several areas, sector specific. Please take a look below for more information on your particular sector’s compliance campaign initiatives and available resources through IHSA. Legislative Updates  
Consultation on a new regulation proposal for Posting Records of Washroom Cleaning  
The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) is seeking feedback on a potential new regulation under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) that would require certain workplace parties to ensure that records of cleaning of washroom facilities are posted.  
The proposed regulation would apply to the wide range of workplaces that fall under the OHSA, including construction projects, industrial establishments, mines, farming operations and healthcare facilities. Consequential amendments to existing sector regulations under the OHSA are also proposed. Consultation ends October 18th, 2024   Learn More      
Reminder: Starting January 1, 2025, Menstrual Products on Construction Projects   Ontario Regulation 213/91, Section 28.1 has been amended to require menstrual products on construction projects where twenty or more workers are regularly employed at a project. This comes into force on January 1, 2025.   Learn More

Upcoming improvements to the NCSO® and NHSA™ program and new application portal launch   We are excited to announce that IHSA is improving the NCSO® and NHSA™ process and requirements to incorporate valuable feedback and ensure continued alignment with the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations (CFCSA). These enhancements will make it easier for applicants to complete the application process, provide more support to employers, and prioritize compliance.

Learn More An important update on COR® in Ontario  
As of March 3, 2025, IHSA will no longer issue COR® 2020 equivalency to firms with ISO 45001:2018 certification. This change will ensure all firms holding COR® certification have met the same requirements and have been evaluated using the COR® standard.

The courses have been adapted for trades sectors from Opening Minds’ The Working Mind, an evidence-based learning program developed to help Ontario workplaces better understand mental illness and foster psychologically healthy and safe working environments.
