As of April 1, Ministry inspectors will be raising awareness of fall and struck-by hazards at single- and multi-family residential construction sites. Employers have a chance to reinforce the need to control struck-by hazards during Struck-by Awareness Week (April 21 to 25): download IHSA’s Struck-by prevention toolkit for safety talks, best practices, and much more. The MLITSD will also send inspectors to mines and mining plants to focus on slip, trip, and fall hazards. Mining firms visit our aggregates webpage and sign up for a campaign-specific webinar. Call for input: excavating and waterproofing safe practices IHSA is seeking support from our members as we develop an excavating and waterproofing safe practice guide in collaboration with the MLITSD. In particular, we would appreciate the opportunity to observe and capture images of excavation and waterproofing activities at jobsites. This would allow us to include updated photographs in the guide to enhance its relevance and clarity. Learn more about how you can support this initiative. Supporting Steps for Life and the National Day of Mourning IHSA is proud to sponsor five Steps for Life events across Ontario. Organized by Threads of Life, the annual charity walks raise awareness about the community effects of workplace tragedies and how we can work together to prevent job-related injuries and deaths. This year’s first IHSA-sponsored walk is on April 27 in Toronto. Sign up now or learn more about Steps for Life walks near you. Steps for Life walks occur in tandem with the National Day of Mourning on April 28—a day that honours those who have died, suffered an injury, or fallen ill while on the job or due to their work. Read IHSA’s Day of Mourning statement to learn about how your business can observe this important day and commit to improving workplace health and safety for all. Join us at Partners in Prevention When we all join together, it’s possible to strengthen workplace safety culture and help businesses to thrive. This year’s Partners in Prevention regional conferences—presented by Workplace Safety and Prevention Services (WSPS) and IHSA—aim to do just that. The Central Region conference is scheduled for May 27 in Mississauga and features a variety of workshops, speakers, and networking opportunities designed to improve your company’s health and safety practices.
