Sixty years of the Fleet Safety Council In January 1965, seven commercial driver trainers officially formed a group to advocate for improving commercial driver safety in Ontario. That group—now called the Fleet Safety Council (FSC) and numbering more than 500 members—recently marked its 60th anniversary at IHSA’s Toronto head office. The event brought together current and past FSC members and special guests to celebrate the council’s contributions to transportation safety and its continued efforts in decades to come. Check out highlights from the event.

If you see something, say something Complacency is a common factor in many workplace incidents: underestimating hazards can lead to you to be less aware of your surroundings and less vigilant about following health and safety procedures. Complacency played a role in the death of Dean Maguire, who fell while installing sheet metal on a roof. An investigation revealed that a worker had noticed an unsafe fall protection setup but chose not to report it, as Dean was not part of his team. Dean’s family, along with IHSA and Threads of Life, encourage all workers to report health and safety concerns when they see them. Learn more about Dean’s story and how your voice can save lives.
