Celebrate health and safety achievements Do you know someone who’s raising the bar for workplace health and safety in Ontario? You have until June 30 to nominate them for one of IHSA’s 2025 Health and Safety Excellence Awards, which honour contributions to incident prevention and worker safety in the construction, aggregates, electrical utilities, and transportation sectors.  
Also until June 30, transportation professionals can recognize their peers by nominating them for the Fleet Safety Council’s Regional Awards.

IHSA’s all-staff meeting Earlier this month, IHSA’s provincewide workforce gathered at the association’s Etobicoke headquarters to reconnect, learn, and grow together.  
Expert guests spoke about topics including building trust, artificial intelligence, substance use, and wellness—providing IHSA staff with essential knowledge to help them better serve our members and improve health and safety outcomes. View photos from the event.    

Bridging safety gaps in Toronto and Ottawa IHSA’s Labour-Management Network recently hosted attendees at day-long symposiums to help members improve specific aspects of health and safety at their workplaces.  
The events in Toronto and Ottawa were presented in collaboration with 3M Canada, whose representatives offered workshops highlighting the latest advice on planning, practices, and personal protective equipment to address hazards such as dropped objects, respiratory hazards, and leading edge work.    
Working together to improve workplace safety On May 27, IHSA joined with Workplace Safety and Prevention Services (WSPS) to host the 2025 Partners in Prevention Central Region Conference in Mississauga. More than 400 participants heard from industry experts on topics including conducting root cause analyses, building psychologically supportive workplaces, and balancing safety and business.

Showcasing the trades at Skills Ontario Last month, IHSA proudly sponsored the 2025 Skills Ontario Competition, featuring friendly, skills-focused challenges for young tradespeople in dozens of industries.   IHSA trainers judged apprentice powerline technician and arborists on their safe-work knowledge and skills, and gave thousands of elementary and secondary school students an inside look at the skilled trades as a rewarding (and safe) career path.
