September Stats & Updates

A message from the Executive Director, James Hogarth

As we move into the fall, I want to reflect on a busy and productive September for Helmets to Hardhats. Our team has been actively engaging with partners this past month and expanding our outreach across Canada. We attended the Manitoba Building Trades Conference, where we forged valuable connections with industry leaders and discussed how to support our clients better. Our Military Outreach continued, allowing us to connect with military personnel about the career opportunities available to them through Canada’s Building Trade Unions.  We attended the Atlantic Indigenous-led Energy Symposium, where we engaged with Indigenous community leaders to explore how to serve Indigenous veterans and their families better. Finally, the Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference inspired us as we celebrated women’s remarkable achievements in construction. This event reinforced our commitment to equal opportunities in the trades and left us feeling inspired by our progress. I’m proud of our accomplishments this month and excited about the partnerships we’re building. These partnerships are about expanding our reach and creating a brighter future for our Veterans and military families.

Thank you for your continued support as we work towards this vision. Best, James Hogarth

September Highlights

September 30th marked Canada’s 4th Annual National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

Helmets to Hardhats paused to pay our respects and reflect on the lasting and painful impact of the residential school system on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis in our country. We took this time to reaffirm our pledge to stand alongside Indigenous communities, honouring their past, supporting their present, and working together for a future of equity and opportunity for all.   Helmets to Hardhats Statement On The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Paul recently visited Ottawa to connect with military personnel, including MWO Bill Vyse of the Canadian Ranger Authority at Army HQ. It was a productive meeting, strengthening our ties with the Canadian Rangers. We also had the opportunity to capture a group shot with Cadet and Junior Canadian Ranger staff, alongside one of our Junior Canadian Rangers in the front. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this visit a success!

H2H was thrilled to attend the Atlantic Indigenous-Led Energy Symposium in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The event was fantastic, offering valuable insights and opportunities to network. We are excited to report that H2H made meaningful connections, allowing us to expand Helmets to Hardhats’ Indigenous Outreach into Atlantic Canada. Thank you to everyone involved for making this symposium a success!

Congratulations to the Manitoba Building Trades on a successful conference and the unveiling of your new logo! Your commitment to growth and collaboration in the trades is truly inspiring. Here’s to a bright future ahead!

H2H had an amazing time at the Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference! We connected with our American counterparts and over 300 of our Canadian skilled trades sisters. The message was clear: women in trades are the expectation, not the exception. 💪👷‍♀️We also heard from President Joe Biden, who emphasized the importance of unionized skilled trades jobs on both sides of the border—critical for building strong economies and supporting military-to-civilian transitions.
