Learn why moving a mobile home requires careful planning Mobile homes are commonly used across Ontario. But moving and placing a mobile home safely onto cribbing supports requires careful planning and adherence to safe work practices. IHSA’s new Bulletin for managing risk when moving and placing a mobile home (W061) provides important information about cribbing failure hazards, controls, and applicable regulations to help manage risk when performing this task.

Discover the root causes of major hazards IHSA has published new resources based on our risk assessment and root cause analysis workshops. They’re designed by and for the industries we serve to help identify hazards, evaluate risks, and develop effective solutions to prevent incidents.   The resources include full workshop results and technical reports on critical topics: slips, trips, and falls (surface mining and aggregates), underground strikes (electrical utilities), working at heights (residential roofing), and yard safety and driver fatigue (general trucking).

Making more respectful construction jobsites In December, IHSA welcomed participants to our Ottawa Skills Development Centre for two days of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment training. Developed by the Ontario Building and Construction Tradeswomen (OBCT), the program explored stigma and discrimination under the Ontario Human Rights Code and included a “train the trainer” session to support proactive solutions. IHSA thanks the OBCT and all participants for their commitment to safer, more inclusive jobsites across Ontario.

Our latest video safety talks and podcasts
IHSA’s videos and podcasts provide timely, easy-to-understand advice for improving health and safety at your workplace.
Our latest expert-led video discusses proper lockout and tagging procedures and why they are essential to preventing the release of hazardous energy while performing work on electrical systems, vehicles and equipment, and more. Ensuring that everyone follows safe practices is at the core of the internal responsibility system (IRS)—the principle that it’s the people at workplaces who are best positioned to make them safer. Watch our video on the IRS to learn how it works and why it matters.
On the IHSA Safety Podcast, Episode 123 concludes our two-part series on construction supervision with crucial guidance on self care—the steps supervisors can take to manage the stress that comes with the job and prevent burnout. Episode 124 discusses the hierarchy of controls as well as the ways technology is improving hazard recognition and control in construction.
