Last month, the H2H team traveled all over Canada to visit CAF Bases & Wings, Cadet Camps, and community-sponsored Veteran events. It was great to interact with so many of you!

📢 Kickstart your career with Safety Training Courses

Starting a skilled trade career in Ontario? Helmets to Hardhats has industry-mandated safety training options available. We can register you in up to four courses: Basics of Supervision Hoisting and Rigging Working at Heights Confined Space Entry Elevated Work Platform First Aid All registrations will automatically include WHMIS and Worker Health and Safety Awareness. Sessions available in English and French.

Training will occur at one of the following NORCAT locations: 
Mississauga, Sudbury, Timmins, or Thunder Bay.

📢 BC Hydro is hiring Apprentices!

BC Hydro is hiring 6 Apprentice Interchange Plant Operator to join their team in Langley, BC! They offer strong benefits, pension, and flexible hours. Apprentices earn 75% of the full trade rate, with the starting apprentice rate at $38.37.

Key Responsibilities: Responsible for the remote operation of small hydro-electric plants as assigned by Operating Orders. Implement the Open Access Transmission Tariff framework. Learn the switching and operation of power system equipment in generating stations and electrical substations. Learn about the control of water flows at generating stations for power production, recreation and fisheries needs. Learn the computer system tools and processes for facilitating the transmission and power market. Work rotating shifts — in a 365 days/year operation while calmly and confidently handling emergencies as they occur. Requirements: High school diploma with English 12, Math 11 and Physics 11 (or Electrician Red Seal as Physics 11 equivalent) or equivalent college/university courses validated by documentation from their school or the Ministry of Education. Completion of related post-secondary courses considered an asset. Electrical or mechanical aptitude and an analytical approach to problem solving are essential. Must be in good health with normal color vision. Must have the ability to work shift work.

The Helmets to Hardhats team stopped in at Cadets Camps across Canada to meet the next generation of talent! The skill, discipline, and determination of Cadets remind us of the vital role youth play in shaping our future. These visits underscore the importance of guiding, encouraging, and educating young people as they grow into tomorrow’s leaders.
Building Opportunities for All Communities
Kyla connected with members and allies of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, including Veterans, Cadets, and CAF members, sharing how Helmets to Hardhats supports transitions into rewarding careers in the skilled trades.
