2019 Travel Allowance Rates

 

The Canada Revenue Agency has set new guidelines for travel allowances, effective January 1, 2019

 

The standard kilometre rate for business use of an automobile will be

58¢ per kilometre for the first 5,000 kilometres

and

52¢ per kilometre

for any additional kilometres

This represents an increase of three cents per kilometre

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our active Brother Murray Tebbs on September 5, 2018.  Brother Murray will be resting at the Calvary Church, located at 1421 Lansdowne Street West, Peterborough, Ontario K9J 7M3.  The Celebration of Life and Reception will be at the same location and details are as follows:

Visitation:  Saturday September 22, 2018, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Celebration of Life:  Saturday September 22, 2018, 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
Reception:  Will immediately follow the Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

In memory of Brother Tebbs, donations may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous or the Alzheimer Society.  On-line condolences may be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com

Retirement Celebrations for John Busato 

John retired on August 1, 2018 from Otis Elevator after a 48 year career

that extends all the way to back to the construction of the CN Tower.

A celebration has been planned for John on

Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Shoeless Joe’s, 75 Consumers Drive, Whitby, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Local 50 will be marching in the Labour Day parade as usual but will not enter the CNE grounds

 

Its’ time for our labour family to gather and celebrate! Its’ time to march for good jobs, justice and fairness for all.

This year, the Labour Day parade destination will be Lamport Stadium in Liberty Village.

The parade will start at 9:30am sharp, from Queen St & University Avenue and march to Lamport Stadium after greeting the IATSE Local58 picket on Dufferin Street at Liberty.

 

There will be much to look forward to at the Stadium:

music, children’s activities, food trucks and a beer tent for those who are thirsty.

Thanks to our affiliates stepping up to make this a fabulous experience for our labour families.
