Local 50

Providing skilled leadership in the elevator construction and service industry for more than 100 years

Chartered on July 19, 1919, Local 50 serves the Greater Toronto Area, and up into the northern parts of the Province of Ontario. Our members install and maintain approximately 50,000 elevators, escalators and moving walks.

The International Union of Elevator Constructors celebrated its 100th Anniversary at the 28th General Convention, which was held in Toronto in August 2001. Originally, Local 50 was the 13th Local of the IUEC to be chartered, but as the Union grew, and more Locals were chartered, we became Local 50.
